New Life - New Journey - New Career

It has been a month since my last blogging here..hmm, I have many things in my head to write it out..First of all I would like to describe how I come to my new Life, new Journey and new Career..

23 of my group girls received our Lembage Jururawat Malaysia Examination result on 22 July 2009 at 11:30 a.m.Ms Jan Kaur, our tutor was the one announced the results. At first she frighthened us(which she always does) by saying that " somebody might be dissapointed", our whole class "huh??!! really???". That was actually a joke.**sigh**. Happy and excited to say that 23 of Group 2/2006 achieved 100% pass in LJM examination. We brought the 100% back after 3 years, the 3C's made it!!I was asked to inform Ms S.Devi Chelliah, our principal immediately about this great and wonderful news. She actually came back to college as she was on MC after the IOL operation just to congrats to 22 of us~~really wonderful and that day was a historical day again! We went for LJM examination at Assunta College Of Nursing on the 23rd June 2009( refer to the date..it shows 23 of us in the group) and we received the results on the 22nd June 2009(only 22 of us in the class on that time).Such a coincidence, isn't it?We had pray session after that to thank and appreaciate God for blessing us always!!My tears of joy dropped.I had 4 days off to spend time with my mom before reporting to GIMC as a newly qualified Registered Nurse.

On the 27th July 2009 was a historical day for me as an employee. That day was my first day to report myself to GIMC as a RN after 3 years being a student nurse. We have 2 weeks for orientation week before start working but unfortunately on the 2nd day of the orientation week 22 of us were called up by the Director of Nursing, Ms Chris Hong to help around in the ward first then later on only continue with the orientation week. This condition occurred was actually due to attack of H1N1 to some staffs in certain wards and there were lacking of staff in wards. We were posted to different wards. I was posted to a surgical ward, Ward 5A but I was shifted to ward 6B at last, an isolation ward basically with all those ? H1N1 cases, positive H1N1 or suspected H1N1. A cultural shock for me when I noticed the ward full with trolley and all PPE around but I am used to all these now because everyday I am full with PPE when attending to patients, the smell of the mask, yiakzz, I still can't accept it!! =(

First day working 29th July 2009 - a great experience for me when I was asked to nurse a patient in Presidential Suite. I was shocked when I heard that because I taught that what I need to do was that to complete all observations in other ward. Who knows that I have to nurse a patient in PS. Thank God that it was a simple case ( after a dental surgery ) with zero complication and zero medical history.hmm,I was able to manage the patient on my own without any mentor unlike during student time. I stayed with the patient from 4 p.m. to 9p.m.

H1N1 is really contagious!! Many people have been affected by the virus - Influenza A strain H1N1. Luckily there is cure for it. Tamiflu(75mg for adult dosage), an antiviral drug that is quite new to me. It kills the virus basically.

Take care everybody. Please perform hand hygiene as often as you can, wear a mask when you need to be at a crowded place. Prevention is better than cure. Let's prevent H1N1 from spreading!!
